Dr. Gary Edward Whitehouse, 78, passed away Friday March 31, 2017 in Bonita Springs, Florida. After taking his education in Industrial Engineering at Lehigh University and Arizona State University, Dr. Whitehouse enjoyed a long and distinguished career in higher education. He was professor of Industrial Engineering at Lehigh University from 1965-1978; he continued his career as a faculty member and administrator at University of Central Florida from 1978-2004.

Earlier this month, a team of Lehigh engineering students arrived in southern California, set up shop in Boeing’s satellite facility in El Segundo and got to work.
Their project: finishing and testing the Hyper Hawk, a 3,300-pound, human-scale pod they designed and built for the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, which will take place Jan. 27-29, on a test track built by the aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company near its Hawthorne, Calif., facility.

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Professor of Practice in Computation and Data Analytics. We welcome applicants with an established strength in Data Analytics and/or High-Performance Computing and a degree in any ISE-relevant discipline, including industrial engineering, operations research, systems engineering, and computer science. A Ph.D is preferred, but exceptional candidates with an MS will be considered.
